Antique long guns - Fatou Rue Du Bacq A Paris, Double Barrel Flintlock Fowler, circa 1800, 20 bore, steel trigger guard with wide flared bow has the engraved initials "T. U" front extension with hand engraved oak clusters and Corinthian style pillars, steel lock plates with light floral engraving and swan neck cocks with curved waterproof powder pans, right side engraved "Fatou" with the left engraved "Rue Du Bacq A Paris," breeches with gold plugs, fancily engraved floral tang, French walnut stock with cheek rest and fabulously carved eagle's head appearing to eat the back half of the stock, steel butt plate with matched floral engraving, 32 inch round barrels aged a fine dull brown inset with a fabulous array of gold inlay including baroque details and two separate panoplies of arms on either barrel with the name "Fatou. Rue. Du. Bacq. A Paris." in gold down the center channel, silver blade front sight flanked with gold inlaid detail. A truly impressive piece from a bygone age of opulence and decadence, a piece that must be beheld in person. Fowler measures 48.25 inches in length and weighs approximately 15 pounds; includes a soft protective gun case. NOTE: No in-house shipping available. CONDITION:
Left lock sets and functions properly however the right lock does not stay cocked in farthest back position, later replacement ramrod's fluted end does not fit in either barrel; excellent overall cosmetic condition, fine bore with light oxidation, metal surfaces have aged to a pleasing dull gray, small dings, fine scratches and spots of oxidation are scattered about the steelwork; fine walnut stock with evidence of crack repair as well as a plug where a swivel was likely once present; trigger guard with light pitting and dings.
